One of our first major lines of distribution, Kilgus Farmstead is a 60-year-old family farm located 100 miles southwest of Chicago in Fairbury, Illinois. It is the state’s only farmstead dairy, and it bottles only its own Jersey cow milk onsite. Efficient grazers, Jersey cows yield less milk than the common Holstein but produce milk with higher protein and butterfat and a richer flavor. Kilgus Farmstead maintains a small herd of 160 Jersey cows that graze on chemical-free pasture from April to November. The cows’ feed is also supplemented with non-GMO corn silage.
